Private pregnancy care with us means coming to see Dr Miller and his team of midwives for consistent care throughout the pregnancy.

This entails appointments with us in our rooms throughout the pregnancy, and also for a checkup after the birth.

It provides you with 24-hour access to a specialist obstetrician throughout the pregnancy and for the first six weeks after your birth.

You will give birth to your baby under the care of Dr Miller, and direct care from us for the initial days that you are in hospital recovering from the birth and learning how to look after your baby.

It also gives you medical support for any concerns that you may have for the ensuing six weeks after the birth. After the birth our midwives will keep in touch with you, and first time mums (that live within a reasonable geographical area from us) will receive a home visit from our practice midwives.

Fees

As we are private medical practice, there are fees for our services.

The initial fee at your first appointment is $250, and an additional $50 for an ultrasound that may be required. There are Medicare rebates available to refund a portion of these fees.

Subsequent pregnancy visits are bulk billed through Medicare.

At around 28 weeks gestation, there is a pregnancy 'management' fee payable which covers you for the pregnancy and the birth. Please contact our office to see what the present fee for this is. This fee will also vary depending upon whether you are in a health fund.

The fee for your postnatal visit at six weeks postpartum is $90. There is a Medicare rebate of about $85 for this.

Our fees are fixed for everyone, which means that if your care is more complex or extra visits are needed, then there are no additional fees from us. The fees also do not change according to the method that you give birth.

Please note that there are separate fees for the use of an anaesthetist to have an epidural in labour or at the time of a cesarean section, and also a separate fee for the paediatrician to see your baby. These fees are billed separately to our practice.
